One of the deep's most precious creatures, a mature ocean sunfish was spotted off The Duchess recently. They are the heaviest bony fish with an average weight of 2,200 pounds.
A sunfish can be as tall as 6 feet and as long as 8 so it's a little hard to miss them. Living on a wealthy diet of jellyfish (they have to eat a large amount to get the nutrition they need) they reside in the deepest waters. An activity known as surface basking behavior brings them all the way to the top where they swim on their side to "recharge" thermally.
Now we're not promising you'll see one of these beauty's like the recent charter but we can guarantee you won't see one sitting at home! To check availibility and book The Duchess, click here.
